Evening all, I recently saw an episode of go fishing when John Wilson caught some Tope on Eel in the Thames Estuary. Has anyone ever had success with eel?

John Wilson had some sucsess with eel for bait. I believe he was fishing for tope at the time. In the Thames.

I've done the same. In the Thames. And caught tope.

I know.

How clever of you to notice.

Using lumps of eel as bait for tope is well known mate, hence the sarcasm.

Obviously it's well known, its been on national TV. My question was has anyone on here had success with it? My mackerel supply is running low but we're infested with eel down here on the Isle of Wight. Anyone caught anything other than Tope using eel?

The only other thing I've had was in the height of summer and it was a nice Bas of around 6lb if memory serves right. Other than that one occurance, just the tope. Floating the eel chunks is pretty species focussed.
