Hi Simon,my best advise to you is to get in contact with your local tackle shops and they should be able to help you.

all the best

well ive just been out and bought a 13ft beachcaster rod that casts 3 - 6oz. a fix spool reel loaded with 20lb line and a 50lb shockleader. a selection of hooks from size 1 to 2/0 and hook link line of 20lb. with lead weights of 3 & 5 oz. I have been told that this setup is ok for the medway estuary and for the beach, but is this right.

Im also looking for a fishing buddy to go with so i can increase my fishing skills and hopefully catch.

Cheers for the advice guys.

Alrite mate.I am also coming back into fishing after a long break since i was a kid due to other hobbys.I used to live in chatham n fished the medway for a long time...but i now live in sittingbourne and i am also lookin for a fishin bud too becoz my old one was my bro but he died sadly so i have no one.

For spots around medway...this time of year the whiting and codling are starting to show again from local info and bass are still around to. Baits are the usual lug squid makeral coktails rag is also working.
The spots in medway..gillingham pier-sun pier (chatham) the command house pub stretch (you can see the command house if you look rite when your on the pier...as well as that where amedeus nite club is can also fish well.

hope thats helped you mate.JOE

oh yeah i forgot all about medway city estate! thats good fishing there...if you go to the bit wat faces chatham (most popular place) theres a long stretch there where u can park...if you fish that main stretch it can be very snaggy.but if you go to the rite all the way to the end...u go fru a little fence place n theres like a ledge and u fish that thats a v good spot..well wen i was yunger it was.yeah deffo on the fishin!

If it's tips that you're looking to pick up, you could do worse than to come along to the Orford Beach Clean on December 8th. Details are on the news section on the front page. It's a good day (and night) out and there'll be a lot of experienced guys there that will give you the time of day and point you in the right direction. Ok, it's a bit of a trek but I guarantee that it will be worthwhile.

My advise is ask other angler's on the beach/pier ect and ask in your local tackle shop or search the net.
