I guess persistence mate. Im a fan of the Pennel rig as of my last trip. Use lug or crab. Persistence has to be the key. Looking forward to a Cod myself mate! |

all i use is squid /cuttlefish for cod, and have had 4 cod over 15lb in the last week, just off seaford head about 1 mile out in 80 ft of water, i have also heard codling are being caught at the deepend seaford beach, try two whole sqid back to back on large hooks say 6/0 8/0 i have been tipping with mackerell and squid goodluck you can also catch whiting all over on lug and rag mostly about 1lb, but tast great like cod if you make a batter out of 25g self raising flour tablespoon of baking soda and teaspoon of vinigar and sprinkle of curry powder to colour, |

I have just caught my first cod and it gulped down a blue frozen sandeel.
I was fishing with 4rods, 2/3 hooks on each and had sandeel, squid and welsh black lug on offer, some of which were cocktails.
I am also fairly new to fishing and believe in fishing with a mixture of baits so as to increase my chances of a catch and as many rods as possible.
I also fish different distances and tend to spread my lines out.
I hope the above is of use to you and hope you catch your first cod soon ! |
