Many thanks

Any chance in making a forum on buying... Just in general, this could range from rods and reels to baits and hooks. And would it be possible to have it listed nearer the top of the forums page as i feel the bottom pages dont get viewved/noticed as often.

I don't know the way in which people on this forum upload images of their catches and things, but the easiest way i have found is www.photobucket.com . It's an image uploader, where you can split things into folders and subfolders. So you could have the main two folders as sea fishing and course fishing, then in the sea fishing folder you could have boat fishing, pier fishing, and beach fishing, then in each of those just have the pictures you have taken, corresponding to the folder they are in. I find it easier to just start off with a folder or two, and as you start to get alot of images in one area, try to split it up into more folders.

I used to create a website just with images that i wanted on forums, and then visit the site i made and right click the image i want on the forum, copy the invisible box, and then paste that into the forum box. This took way too long, and it was a lifesaver when I found photobucket! big grin

My suggestion is maybe this website could be made a sticky in general sea fishing chat, just to save people the hassle of whichever other way they do it. If anyone knows of an even better image uploader, please pm me or post it here. winking

Just my thought, i find it very useful when posting images on forums.

Hi mrix,

your Donation thingy....instead of multiples of £5.00 how about multiples of £1.00....

This way more people may donate rather than none...... and who was it a while ago who said the Donation thingy didn't work..... well it does now

just food for thought.... somtimes less is more... ... well that is what I keep telling myself when I go fishing

Good point HoOkEd many thanks for that very first donation it all helps towards the running costs big time. I can see your point about the £5.00 donation maybe a bit high and will lower it asap. The website has a few adds up that make very little really as regards to the overal running costs etc. I am glad it has become one of the most popluar sea fishing websites in the UK but at the same time popularity costs unfortunately
thanks for the idea
Cheers

Hi mrix, big grin

I see you have now altered the MINIMUM DONATION to £1.00 ... I hope for the FORUM's benefit more members take the initiative to make a payment.... which is very simple to do.

I guess the money would inable improved facilities for the forum members ... and as many members most probably spend £2-3 on an angling magazine a month it would be a small cost to donate the minimum £1.00, at least as a one off.

 But if all 1495 members (as of 15th March 2006) donated £1.00 this would add up.... just worked it out on my calculator the answer is £1495.00.... I guess this would be very benificial to the forum as a whole.

I believe the general concensus is that this forum is good ... ... ... and it always seems to be active... ... and upto date with catch reports etc. (unlike published magazines that can be upto 6 weeks out of date by the time they reach the shelves, I guess they remind us of what we may have caught a month before hand  ).

Well in three years of the forum being up and many hundred members saying how usefull it has been I have only ever recieved just your £5 which is much appriciated though, But just the fact that it has been of use to Hundreds of thousands of sea anglers over that time is good enough for me really. Ufortunately the gallery has been disabled to save bandwidth as that was getting very expensive but I hope to activate it again soon happy

I just doubled your donation fund, Many thanks for a great and helpful site and long may it continue!
We are a generous lot here in Kent, come on everyone else, chip in!
If we all chuck a couple of quid in the kitty, we could get the gallery up and running again quicker and a few piccies helps to get the enthusiasm going, doesnt it?

Hey Dalldog,

see you made a donation towards to upkeep of this forum.... obviously you thought the site worthwhile supporting.

one day there may be enough donations for mrix to upgrade the facilities.. but it looks like it will be a long slow drawn out process.

unless of course there is a sudden rush to donate... using the donate button on the home page need to scroll down and look on the right hand side tougue
