Please post your Tactics / Tips on how to catch Garfish in your local area here. Please remember in this part of the forum to click the reply button to post and Not the "New Post" button Also one main point to remember is that these new forums are intended to help totally new sea anglers to the sport so please post in great detail type of rods/reels used, explain about traces/rigs used, depth to fish and so on or anything else I have missed that you feel will help the novice sea angler.
carp rod, fixed spool reel, large float, 15lb main line, 10lb hook lenght, size 10 freshwater hook. and a very thin, long strip of macky or gar.
adjust the depth until you find the fish, then adjust it again when the fish slow up until you get them again.
if your fishing deal pier it's completely different. a fresh water rod and reel, 10lb line straight through, freshwater shot(aaa), size 10 hook. you have to fish it with a bit of tide, let the bait drift under the pier (6-2ft below the surface). hold your rod and wait for your rod to bend.
Hi all
for me ,its got to be a float and about 8 pound main line and 3/4 to 1 1/4 test curve carp rod fished about 2 metres on a light weight pike float, with a strip mackrel
