Hi, I usually tie all my rigs but am thinking about using crimps. Do you think they are more beneficial and also wouold a normal set of crimping pliers from an electrical shop do or are specialist ones better and if so which ones?
Cheers for your help!

Niknak.

Hello Niknak welcome to the site, I have used crimps for years and never had any problems with them I highly rate them  , I use long nosed pliers but have used different types of pliers at times and they really are just as good really, one thing though you got to get used to is the right tention to apply to the crimps its just enough so they dont move, you dont want to go and overtighten for obvious reasons.
Cheers

hi guys, i prefer breakaway coil crimps as they can be fitted without pliers,
(but u need side cuts to cut them too length)

no crushing=no accidental line damage.

can be moved on the rig body to allow for shortening snoods if ya loose a hook on clipped down rigs .

as far as i know only produced to fit shockleader diameters so can'y be used for bait stops on snoods etc.

Geejayy.

Cheers you guys - I think that the relative cost of buying and trying against outweighs it and I'll go and get my pliers this weekend! Have a good one!

Niknak.

P.s. going to Port Gaverne to fish off the rocks on Monday evening - should be cool! big grin

Have used crimps for some time now and although my rigs look very impresive and work really well, I find when fishing rouch ground (which I do a lot) my rotten bottom doesnt even break before the crimped line does. Am now looking at other ways of tying my rigs without weakening the line.
