Hi

Only use 1 normal hook, something like a wide mouth aberdeen

Thread from the front like a worm, push point out through top of shad, this helps stop getting snagged on the bottomi. Make sure you have plenty of hook showing .

Have a look at the storm shads or similar in a tackle shop or on one of the on line shops and you will see what the result should look like.

It is a bit late to reply to this posting but I have only just joined.
You really need to use a jig (which is a hook with a weighted head) if your shads are going to have the right action. Some anglers do rig shads with hooks postioned as they want but if they do this they have to sort out loading the shad with the right weight in the right place if it is going to perform properly.
Suggest you have a look in a tackle shop to see the normal arrangement. happy

Was just watching telly and saw, I think the blokes name is Henry Gilbey, catch a huge Pollack using a rubber shad. Must have been at least 4-5ft.
(Was on a boat though sad )

I think Fishing on the Edge with Gilbey has to be the best fishing program right now. He actually shows which rig he's using, which bait and how to set it all up. Most of the other programs are 'oh look nice spot, alley oop' and then cast without being able to even tell which rig or baits they use.

Also, I find he doesn't use off-limit areas you would see others such as John Wilson using, always at private lakes etc.
