Haven't fished at Aldeburgh in ages so thought I'd combine a family day out with a spot of fishing. Fished the tide up from 11.00am to 5.00pm. I fished just beyond the Martello Tower. The sea was flat calm and the sun shone continuously throughout - not the conditions I would have chosen for beach fishing. Caught 8 codling and 3 whiting. Unfortunately all were too small to keep despite me putting out some enormous baits. Bait was lug. Chap next to me had a 2lb codling so they are out there. A few anglers turned up as I was leaving and I suspect they would do much better as the light faded. On the down side I got a sunburned face and as I was putting my gear in the car I managed to snap 3 inches off the end of my treasured old Zziplex 2500. What a bummer. Don't know whether 3 inches will make a difference! (Cue the wise cracks!!) I'll be interested to read a report from you guys fishing Orford this weekend.

Cheers

Rory

Might be worth giving Terry Carroll a call at Zziplex to see if he can still make another tip.

The missing three inches will make it feel a bit stiffer.

Screaming and Dunc, SHUT UP! No innuendo bingo on here

Sorry about this, but have you tried Viagra instead. I have heard it makes all the difference.

Off to bed now, as just tried to swallow one and don't want to get a stiff neck!

At least you didn't blank Rory39. Nice one.

Maybe you should have tried very close-in for plaice, they should be about now and Aldeburgh is quite a good venue for these great flatfish.

Tight Lines.

my dad snapped 4 inches of his 2500 last year all he done was made a 6 inch extebsion of the but out of a broom stick, it actually made the whole a bit stiffer but bight detection was as good, and he recons it casts better to.

so dont worry about it mate
