Ok! Sarcasm out of the way.

This Sunday just gone I was invited by a friend to fish a HHAC meet, there was a little controversy regards the final venue, but it was finally decided that the meet would take place on Hayling Island at a beach known as: Inn On the Beach.
My friend and I arrived armed with every bait we could muster, including live prawn which we had collected during the small hours of Sunday morning.
We began fishing at about 8am with less than optimism in our minds, as our assessment of the conditions was not favourable and it was likely to be an excruciatingly painful fishless day.
To be honest, It was an excruciatingly painful day and had I not left my own car at my friends house in Brighton, I would have probably gone elsewhere by dinner time.
However, my friend and I fished hard all day trying every trick in the book. We both encountered a couple of bites early on coming to the live prawn and the rest of the days efforts resulted in four miniature flounders between us which did not even register bites, these flounders fell for the ragworm. The one flounder that I managed catch I didn’t even have to reel in, as I had fallen asleep sitting on my bait bucket late on into the evening and the tide had receded far enough to leave the flounder and my end tackle high and dry, thus reinforcing the quip I had made to my friend earlier about the shallowness of the beach and that if the tide goes out any further we’d be able to see the gripwires on our leads. 8O
All said and done I had a grate day( I meant to spell it like that, GRATE, look it up)

If you have a gut feeling go elsewhere or go home.(maybe I should listen to myself sometime?)

If I have a "gut feeling" I rush for the nearest WC, swearing loudly to myself to stop eating the Donner Kebab I left in the fridge the night before......

It wasnt all as gloomy as Bob makes out. The fishing was, but I got a sun tan.......

Erm sorry about this gents but us locals know that yer don't do Inn on the Beach at low water - you're right, i'ts too shallow. We start about 3 hours before HW and do up to three after then go home. If you want to do Hayling anywhere near low water you only have three choices really: Eastoke cos this is the deepest part of the seafront; Gunner Point because there is a deep hole about 100 yds out and Chichester Harbour Entrance Channel. The latter can be dodgy when there is a spring tide running because the current is so fast and because in the summer it can get clogged up with weed. This means that it is best to check on the conditions there before casting a rod. There have been mnay occasions when we have gone there, taken one look and headed back to Eastoke or the Coastguard Station. Anyway, fishing generally is crap at the moment because of this east wind - we really need a change in the weather to liven things up. My advice to all and sundry is don't waste yer petrol this weekend unless you just want to come for a sun tan or unless the weather changes.
