I've visited anglesey ( fishing off the rocks) 3 times in the last 2 weeks and had nightmare sessions each time without a single bite!
I fished popular marks up at wylfa power station and Bull Bay......The problem was constant snagging and snapping
What is the recommended breaking strains and rigs for shore fishing around Anglesey's rugged coastline?
I thought 30lb mainline and 20lb hooklengths would be overkill 8O
(How wrong I was !)
I was fishing 3 hook flapper rigs with lugworm.
Any suggestions will be very welcome

Not sure about that area but if it is very snaggy best off using a pulley rig with single hook or even a pennel. This will reduce the snags as there are less hooks showing. The pulley will help a fish pull the weight away from the rocks as it pulls it away freeing you instantly (in theory)Use a rottom bottom rig as it is quite often your weight that gets stuck. This way you will only lose your weight and not the rest of your tackle. One of my mates uses heavy bolts instead of weights when fishing really snaggy ground as you can get them from scrap yards and they are a hell of a lot cheaper. Hope this helps mate as there's nothing worse than losing your rig every cast. Happy fishing. |
