Fella's
It's accepted that there are fish in the river at the moment, it's just that there hasn't been so many quality fish turning up on the beach, Right ?
Now! Conditions haven't been most favourable lately, but thursday night it looks like that could change for a few hours, with a 6 to 7 southerly developing through the day.
With that in mind would any of you consider that to have any imediate effect on the fishing in the river ?
If so what effect ?
And where would you head for ?

Cheeky to ask maybe, but if you don't ask! And if I'm honest my own ideas don't always pay off
Every days a school day!

Cheers all happy

I'd head for any beach that isn't in Southend!! Sorry to sound a bit sarky but I still think you'd be wasting your time from anywhere other than the pier and even then I wouldn't guarantee a catch.

I'd try the barge pier at shoebury one cod, safe from the chavs wandering the seafront at night and always been a consistent mark for me admittedly not always in size.
Though can feel a bit exposed if a gale blowing as your right on the corner where the estuary meets the north sea.
I'd be interested in how you do as i'm thinking of going there saturday night with my eldest

Windforce 6 or 7 should create enough wave action to stir up the seabed and attract fish into the area, so I would hazard a guess that the fishing would improve over recent results; albeit only slightly, as in general the fishing in the Southend area has been pretty poor.
Nevertheless, nothing ventured - nothing gained, and who knows, it could turn out to be a really good night. Good luck

Tight Lines.

Thanks for the input fella's

Me and Bigsi ended up back on canvey, We where hoping to get to the mark behind Thorney bay holiday camp, but the gate leading to the sea wall was shut, so we resigned to go back to southfalls for the second time this week.
Thorney bay was favourite because its a little closer to the deeper water.
However, at least we knew southfalls would produce some fish if only matching tuesdays results.
We arrived to the sound of a good surf, and you could make out the breakers rolling over the mussle bank about 150yds out.
The wind was blowing SSW 4 or 5, so pretty much in tour face.
We where armed with all the usual suspects regards the bait, plus a pack of razors (shelfish, not blades) Which we thought might come into play if the beach is getting pounded.
Over the course of 5 hours , we managed to get 23 codling, mostly fingerlings, but with 2 scrapers thrown in, and 1 obligatory rockling. big grin
We both came home pretty happy with our efforts, and its now point for debate wether it was the razors that helped bulk the catch? or the conditions?
Which ever or whatever, it was a noticable improvment on the previous session.(nearly double, with a couple of better fish)
Re: your points made about southend sea front, Yeh I think youre right, Its just a bit too baron, and a liitle too far from the deep water to push the fish across all that mud?
I don't think I know, or have fished the shoebury jetty that you refer to?
Maybe you could give me some more details so I can identify it for future consideration?

Thanks again fella's

Til later then.
