Well got down to Gilkicker at 1600 and walked about 300yrds up the beach just short of the point.
The fish were there from the start with a nice little bass on my 1st cast with my mate dougie brining in double and tripple shots of whitting.
I tried to keep away from the whitting so used big baits from the off trying yet again for that big cod !!
we stopped fishing around 1230am as the weed and the tide were proving just a little to much and bait was wearing thin on the ground by now.
so to top it off we had whitting, pout and 2 schoolies but nothing big but it was good to fish a venue that ive not really fished this year and as I still think, this is more a summer venue than winter

Nice one Danny and Dougie,

There seems to be whiting all over the place at the minute. I fished the Bristol Channel on Tues afternoon and it was crap, only had a rockling so decided to drive down to Abbotsbury and had whiting, dogs and the biggest poor cod i have caught from the shore, weighing in at just under 2 1/2 lb. I thought i had a nice cod on a big baited pennel but turned to be 2 dogs.

Are you fishing the cod rover?

All the best for Christmas
