Having missed the trip to Dungy on Sat, I thought I would try to catch a Cod near by without the 3hr travel.
It was decided that the only real place would be Hurst.
HT 1704
3.9mtr tide
wind wsw 11mph gusting 21mph
sea state choppy
rain horrizontal !!
Bait- lug, dquid, peeler and maddies
Rigs- 2 hook dropper and up and over rig
having set up near the rocks at 2pm and after 2.5 hrs having only caught the largest pout ive ever caught from the beach 2lb 2oz i decided to move to groin stump 11,
Casting around 80yrds on a 2 hook dropper rig baited with lug and squid and the tide pulling left to right quite hard i had a fairly good knock follwed by slack line, I reeled into the slack then felt something good banging away ! my original thought was bass as soon as it came near the surf it wanted to take off. running up the beach with my rod coz weed was caught in the tip ring i noticed a nice cod 5lb 2oz
i would upload a pic if i knew how so for those on my FB page have a look there
