Hi, Im new to fishing (about 5 months now). I purchased cheap kit to start me off with but im now paying the price with reels breaking etc. Ive still not got the hang of casting far but this isnt a problem yet as I dont need to where I fish. I was looking into buying a Daiwa sandstorm as it had a good write up in Sea angler with a Penn surf 850 reel. For my second rod I fancied a penn firetip combo for £49.99. Can anybody suggest any kit they feel is better value for money or just give me any reviews about the kit that i've mentioned. Both rods will be 12ft fixed spools. Thanks GEORGIE9 :? :?: |

You can't go far wrong with this place. As far as I know all rods reels etc are discounted. I've bought several rods and reels from here and never had a problem. Never found em cheaper when I have been searching either. As far as the Sandstorm is concerned, I have only heard favourable reviews from people that own them. Some people say that the magazines never give a bad rod review. Therefore, listening to mates who actually use the rod must count for something.
The other thing here is also, if you wanted to spend say sixty quid on a rod, you could buy a sixty quid rod that is possibly a ninety quid rod elsewhere. Think he still deals with mainly Shakespeare rods but theses have come on leaps and bounds in the last ten or fifteen years. I used a pair of em for some time and was well impressed. Anyway happy shopping |

I have a Penn Surfmaster 850 and I've documented a review on this site under the "Fishing Tackle Reviews" section.
You might want to look at the 750 aswell which is a bit smaller. |
