Use a Pennel rig and secure the squid with bait elastic-
put the bottom hook all the way through the main body of the squid, wrap your line wound the squid once then hook it through the squids head between the eyes. Then Secure the squid with the top pennel hook through the body and for extra security wrap it with bait elastic.
Theres a link in the Resources section which shows you how to tie a pennel rig.
Thats how I do it anyway. |

Shore - Agreed: most people use StuartDV's method, it copes with casting.
Boat - just hook it once through the pointed end, check that it seems to flow naturally when you lower it into the water. Not many fish will nick an entire squid without having a mouth big enough to take the hook too, you shouldn't have any 'misses' and will get more daylight bites due to natural effect.
Either - you can thread more than one squid up the hook snood, plenty of people trying for cod with six squid at a time, just make sure the last one flows naturally if in daylight. MK |
