Hi there Eagle, Willing to learn eh, good, you will have to be, I have been at it for ten years in boats and on beaches and still don't know much. 1. I never take our small boat out in winter, if you fall in to cold water you can be dead of hypothermia in an hour. 2. Fishing in February and March is a waste of time as most fish have left inshore waters to breed. Plaice, bream and large bass start to turn up again in mid April and the fun begins. 3. Pick a 5 mile stretch of coast and learn all you can about it, particularly where the hotspots are - you are not that far from Chesil Beach which has been a known hotspot for years. Some folk travel around all of the time and occasionally have good day but they will never catch as much as the bloke who knows his area well. 4. You do not need to spend loads of loot getting the best possible reels/rods because it does not make any difference to the fish - they are only interested in what is on the business end of your kit and if they are there when you are there, you will get bites. I currently use a beach rod and reel which cost me all of £50 and yes I do catch fish quite often BECAUSE I KNOW MY AREA!
Best of Luck if you want some pointers, PM me. |
