Good evening,

Just a quick one, I have a Abu Multiplier Rod but I didn't get on with my Multiplier for beach fishing so have sold it but i really like the rod.

I was just wondering if I could still use the rod with a fixed spool reel. I know on the whole you can use multipliers with fixed spool and multiplier rods but not a fixed spool on a multiplier as the rings are smaller but seen as i am not looking to chuck my bait out 200 yards most likely 80 yards tops whether I could get away with using the Multiplier Rod or am I better off selling it and getting a fixed spool one?

Many Thanks,

Greg

Hi Greg, you are more than likely to get conflicting answers but the top and bottom of it is that there will always be a chance of the line wrapping around the lower ring. The choice is yours and yours alone but whatever your decision the best of luck mate. Cheers

hi greg
im no expert but why dont you just get another eye/ring fitted to the rod which i would think would stop the chance of the line rapping round .
cheers steve

I would just give it a go. I've had line wrap round a huge ring on a FS-rung rod. I sometimes wonder whether more rings closer to the reel would help stop this. And John Holden doesn't like the idea of a few big rings for FS, and what's good enough for JH ...

Let us know how you get on.
