Have you ever used the common garden worms as sea fishing bait ?

If so, did you catch anything..... ?

In Estuary`s where the water hasnt got such a high salt content anglers sometimes use them to catch Flounder but in sea water the common garden worm is not very good basically the saltwater will disintagrate them within seconds

As a kid my mates and I used them regularly (the big ones) and caught plenty of small fish on the Colne. We also used them quite happily for Eels and Flounder in the summer and always did well, though it has to be said not as well as with Ragworm or Peeler. Certainly for Eels I wouldn't discount them and I would happily use them now for spooning for Flounders in the summer.

I have to admit- we never caught owt with ragworm either like- sayiing that we were also beachcasting using large (metal) nuts as sinkers- not much grip on those especially when the North Sea on the northumberland beaches was having a blow

Twenty something years ago, me and blakdog used to raid his dad's compost heap for the brandling worms and we would catch eels and a mate of mine used to catch dabs on them off of Walton Pier.
