The only time snow should effect's the fishing, is when the weather warms up and the snow melts pushing aload of fresh water into the sea, supossively effecting the salt levels, hence pushing the fish futhur out into better deeper water. |

During the Xmas and new year feeding period of Flounder in the R Colne, prior to them heading out to sea to spawn, snow on the mud at low tide will definately "switch off" the fish. If it comes down heavy enough it can also shorten the season dramatically and send the Flounders out early. Heavy frosts will do the same here as well, possibly because the maddies they are feeding on go deep in the mud, out of the fishes reach. I've seen them dissappear virtually overnight in the past.
In the open sea, I would reckon that it has less effect, but it does seem to effect the tidal rivers. |
