With the winter drawing closer most of my target species are leaving our shores and bass become my main target.
Headed off Wednesday, conditions were not great but I had dug the day before. As it is spawning season the worms dont last very long and I didnt want to waste what I had.
On the first beach I tried a schoolie of about a pound and a half took a lug on my first cast and I followed this with a flounder before weed on the incoming tide forced me to move.

I drove about a mile down the road to the main strand which alwatys has more of a wave. Action was constant for the next couple of hours and i managed two dogfish and another four schoolies all around the same size. All fell to pulley rigs baited with lug, sandeel or razor.
I left when I blew up two reels suprise

Very nice looking Bass, looks in excellent condition.
Sounds like you had a good day out (bar the reels).

Both were my own fault. All my 525's are 'slideys' and I have a bad habit of putting the rod and reel on the ground when dealing with fish. I have lost count of the times I have pushed the slide to Fast and tried to hammer the bait out. the lead and trace goes a long way, the line just blows up.
I lubricate the bearings with rocket fuel and fish brakes full on unless it is a calm day or off shore wind.
The second reel had crossed the other rod and picked up the trace on the way in and just got in a terrible mess which couldnt be sorted out in the dark without a knife.
Havent been out since but hope to get to a ray mark tomorrow for any late fish hanging around, then back onthe bass Sunday night if the weather conditions are even vaguely ok.
