hi boys and girls
i have a dilemma
i have only taken up sea fishing in the past couple of years after a 20 year layoff
my problem is this
a couple of years ago i started up again with a shakespeare in2 2 rod beachcasting set up
to be perfectly honest they perform ok, but when casting they feel a little fragile and when on a windy peir they flap around like 2 sticks of liquorice, purely because i dont think they are man enough to launch a 6 or 7 oz weight comfortably.

i was talking to my fishing buddy ( snagger ) and he recomended i got a pair of zoned action carbon rods

can anyone recommend anything that aint gonna break the bank

preferably i want something that will happily launch an 8 oz weight over the horizon that still gives good bite indication but does not flap around in the wind

cos my rods drove me nuts on walton peir last night

thanks for any help

If you definately need to cast 8 oz then the best budget rod is probably the Ron Thompson Axcellerator.
If you can get away with 6 oz then Abu Hellbenders or Esprits are a good option. Both will handle 8 oz if you do an off the ground cast but don,t quote me on that.

hi mate
thanks for the help
i probably wont need 8 oz as at walton you normally use 4 or 6 oz, its just the wind that does my head in

I've got one of these and so far have had no bother-as Westy said shop around for best price but take p&p into account if mail order(I found it was cheaper in local shop without p&p)Cheers,Mick big grin big grin
