Well ,we had some good Fishing around Oban , Arrived with no bait (was not allowed to ,as it would stink the car or caravan) , and could not buy any so with light gear we fished Oban north pier and caught some maccys that night ,next day headed to the Shore of Loch Etive and checked out the popular marks ,but those we spoke to said not much happening ,so we did some exploring and came across a place that looked worth a cast ,and we were right !!! Red cod around 5lb Pollock a bit bigger (fish for tea),gunnard , whiting , spurries up to 5lb so we had a busy day ,we cast well out but our line were dropping in the water 5 feet out so we had found a deep gulley right in front of us ,
Down to Fish the pier again next night for some maccys ,and a couple of large boats in and only a small gap between them ,so cast out and after about half an hour had a couple and decided that would do as I managed to get some squid earlier in the day ,my son wanted one last cast before we left and brought in 5 maccys on a 6 hook rig ,I went to the car for a bag ,and on return he had a full house of six maccys with a crownd of tourists around him clapping and people from the restraraunt behind standing up at the tables knocking on the window –so out fished again by my son and that made his day ,back to our spot next day and a similar catch of cod spurries , Pollock .whiting and gunnard ,flounders but ............no thornies they escaped this trip but will be back in a couple of weeks

Sounds like its on fire up there. Need to get up soon for my fix of kelpies.
Were you fishing near to the Falls of Lora / Connell bridge when you got into the kelpies, as thats my usual catching spot.
