Hello all,
Was out on a boat trip recently out of Clougherhead Harbour and I am afraid not a fish, not 1 single fish. What is wrong NO FISH. Brutal amount of Jelly fish but no scales.
Not even a Mackerel, has anyone else got problems catching fish or is the East Coast finished for fishing. Was talking to locals there and they said the fish have gone.
Beginning to wonder is it worth going out to sea anymore.

Hi Seahorse,
I do feel your pain, but last few weeks from either shore or boat the fish have been quite obliging. Monday 12th in boat we were into macky, pollack, coalie and herring. Catches were constant using mainly hokai lures. c'mon up and give it a go
Hope your luck turns soon.

It has been fairly hard down here in the West from the shore, we have had a few weeks of bad weather which seems to have broken up the mackerel shoals and sent them off shore.
Marks that could normally be relied on to produce a few fish are not producing at all.
The two lads who came over from Dover SAA. had their poorest fishing in twenty-one years of annual visits, having said that many of the good marks we fish were unfishable for the two weeks they were here due to strong Westerlies and heavy rain. |

was out of kinsale on sunday on a club charter. there was fish galore with about 10 species landed, maybe more. lots of codling and pollack too. weather was very rough tho so we couldnt venture out of the harbour. i spent nearly 2 hours in the cabin trying to sort out my stomach |
