I currently fish two rods one and old shakespeare FS with matching fixed spool reel, and the other an abu enticer beach with a multi. I have recently treated myself to brand new ABu 6500 CT Mag Elite and now feel like I should upgrade me rod. both rods are 12ft and wondered about going longer.
I have been sea fishing for a over a year or so, and can comfotably cast (OTG) about 70 - 80 yrds with either rod, and since I purchased the Mag Elite have found my self pushing 90+ but feel the enticer might be a little light weight for the reel. I would like ideally to use the enticer with the Fixed spool and purchase a new rod for the 6500 Mag. have a budget of £150.00 ish can go slightly higher if needs be and wondered what you guys recommend ?? should I look to go longer to help getting extra yards??
I live in Kent and fish the south east beached with Deal and Dungie my preferred places.
any help guys as there are so many, I was thinking about going for another ABU to match the reel with the rod but not sure if thats the best for the money ?? |

If you can still get hold of one, an Imax 4 stroke 6 is possibly the best rod I have ever used in that price range and is fine for fishing beaches like Deal- it's as good a rod as many others in the £200-£250 range.
The Imax is best fished with the reel in the high position- it's a proper fishing rod- not a scaffold pole but if you've got good technique- pendulum or OTG- it can put a lead a serious distance. Worth ervery penny in my view. |

Sonik SK3 . Greys GRX-S , AFAW are all excellent rods around the 120 quid mark , or you could pick up a quality 2nd hand century or Zzplex which are in a different league to everything else |

Daiwa TDXS 129pm for sale on the classified section on another well known forum which i cant mention on here for £130
Was thinking of getting it myself so had a browse around the internet to read up on the rod.
The rod is highly thought of by many anglers and likened to, and better than, some zziplex rods costing much more.
google this and it will take you to the post.
"Daiwa TDXS 129pm wsf"
It is another option for you to think about.

they have given me great fun...........plus i have beaten guys in comps who have state of the art equiptment
in my opinion
spend your life savings on gear
i doubt if you will catch better fish......................but on a cheapo set up......................it dont half make u feel good...

After buying one myself, I could reccomend abu's Hellbender rods. I bought the 12' 8" hellbender M rod. Its a good rod for casting, will easily put a 170g lead and bait 120yds, and has brilliant bite detection.
Has a "through action" tip, but has quite a stiff butt to give good distance, so will cast soft baits very well like crabs and not rip ragworm from hooks.
Also another good bet might be a Shakespeare Salt MX??
The thing is, there are lots of rods in that price range and every person will have their own reccommendation for what suits them but it doesnt mean they will suit you |
