Spent a couple of hours trying to catch or buy some mackerel after college Friday afternoon, no luck in either methods. Two bait rods didnt move for the afternoon so the warmer water hadnt brought the fish in.
Met Joe and John for some spinning on Saturday afternoon. Some nice pollack starting to arrive,Joe had the best one at about 4lb. John had a specimen rockling on his conger rod. No conger yet

Didnt take any photos of my own pollack as I wasnt looking my best (plus I couldnt put up with evidence of Joe catching better fish than me.)
Took a trip to the Shannon on Sunday for low water, despite my best efforts and some great baits I only managed a dogfish.
As usual full report on my blog http://baitdigger.wordpress.com/ |

looks a beast of a rockling there.
cant wait for the pollack to move in down here. my biggest last year was just under 5lbs, some fight off them on light gear. |

Well done on the fish Neil, starting to see pollack back with us now too.
Be good to see them fatten up a bit.
