try the peir, a few rays coming up I had one sat morning, though the small stuff was few and far between. (sorry if teaching you to suck eggs) would need bluey/mackrel/sandeel for the ray (bluey seems to be the better and what i caught on. 3/0 or bigger strong hooks and hook snood o at least 30lb. Pulley or long flowing some use pennels. Lug seemed to be better for the smaller stuff ie pouting, whitting and doggies. there is a bait shop on the pier details are in the tackle shop guide.
Hope it helps Mike |

yes i like Deal Pier! had my 1st smooth hound there 1st July last year! cant wait to get back n try for another!!
we've never had a blank at the pier! also at Walmer last year had lots n lots of 2/3lb codling, park near the public lavs,, and walk straight over to the water! there..
as for bait.. well i dunno i just use everything!! keep chopping n changing.. i dont target specific fish, just take what we get!
good luck! how was your trip!?
