No one likes to fish in the rain, but sometimes we have to. Get yourself some good quality waterproofs(don't skimp) and if you can afford it a brolly or a shelter. Take at least 2 towels with you to keep your hands dry after reeling in and baiting up and you should be able to keep reasonably comfortable. Don't get rain water on your worms, it will ruin them.

happy It's what fishing is all about mate..Come rain or shine, get down on the beach and go for that elusive big fish, that we all hope to catch one day.

Concrete is right, providing you have the means to keep reasonably dry, it's not too bad fishing in the rain.
A flask of hot drink is also very welcome on such a day / night.

Go for it mate, and good luck.

And let's not forget that a good blow disturbs all kinds of stuff which interests fish close to the shore..... I am lucky to live on Hayling which means that if this gale calms down a bit in the next few hours I will be nipping down the beach to see what turns up. Judging by what we saw on Friday night, it could be anything as we took a small dab a pouting and two whiting in a couple of hours that night.

Thanks again for the advice, i do understand that after a storm is a good time to fish and will bare this in mind, i need to sort myself out with a good shelter that is big enough to sit two people

Trouble with this sea angling lark is it is for real men only: Following my own advice I just went down the beach as there was a good blow last night (Sunday) and by today lunch time it had stopped raining and the wind had dropped. Right says I, must be in with a chance. Started at 3.30 and fished the high tide down for three hours at what is supposed to be a Hayling hot spot. Nothing in first hour, so now it is getting dark and the b***gers must come in mustn't they? - Nothing, zilch, zero, f'all. A couple of seals went by - maybe they spooked the fish, anyway it was very very disappointing. But then only real men can stand on the beach in mid-winter, for 3 hours, catch nothing and still decide to go again the next night (which I just have).
