Thanks jim for the trouble. It look like I might have to buy a rubber dingy to use it
Cheers

yea 34lb of thrust doesnt seem to equate to a great deal of HP , you sure its not out of a model boat |

i`ve just got myself a 34ld thrust minkota for my seahog shortie.
did a bit a research (10 mins on google) and they seem to get best reviews and life span. havent tried yet as waist of time going out till there are some fish back in the sea. |

the 34lb thrust will push you along no sweat i have one for my 16foot fulmor make sure you have a good battery for the job. the shakespere e thrust has a low drain on the battery, just thinking if your going to use it in salt water you will need the saltwater sealed unit i think you can only get them around 54lb thrust but even this one is slow draining on the battery , but if your going out far i would take a second battery hope this helps cheers hotdog123 |

hi
i use a thruster 36 electric outboard on my 10ft alliminium dingy and it work very well even with two fat fishermen onboard only problem with mine is its a long shaft and means the controls up in the air a bit but nice and queit and plenty of thrust,i always carry two batteries just in case.

Thanks for all your replies lads. I do have a 5HP petrol engine and the electric motor will be used as a backup only. It must be better than trying to row the boat.
Cheers
