I would like to announce the official launching ceremony of the SWFF inflatable vessel "Silverfly" this weekend on the river Hamble.

The maiden voyage will likely last for 1-2 hours and consist of a party of 2 (me and SF junior).

Sunday i am thinking is going to be the best day and i will be casting off from the public slipway by the ship.

The seagoing trial will consist of trying to avoid boats, shallows, pontoons and other hazards.

I am trying to convince SF Junior that it will be in his best interests if he participates in a Man Overboard exercise and his pocket money may well be in danger of dissapearing for good if he refuses!

I will of course be taking rods but purely for practice reasons and not in the hope of catching.

Will let you know how i get on but if anybody else is going out (local to me) on the water in their own boats and fancies a joint venture, drop me a PM

Cheers,

Captain Silverfly big grin

Do people carry rods for any reason other than for the practice?

Don't forget to stick on the L- plates, Mike. Bon voyage.
PS - Do boats drive on the left hand side or the right hand side?

Well i made it back from france!!!

Only joking of course.

The maiden voyage of the SWFF vessel Silverfly was a reasonable success.

No injuries, collisions or major catastrophies!

SF jr has lost all his pocket money for the next month or so for refusing to "fall" in the Hamble thus enabling me to practice my MOB routine (not really, just 2 weeks devil ).

From pulling up on the slip to motoring down the river took about 25mins but that was the first time so i reckon i can get that down to 20 or so.

Little 4 HP motor cruised at about 6mph (no idea in knots) and produced a top end of about 8mph and planed quite well.

It was a nice day but cold and the river does have quite a current.

Managed to motor up to the M27 bridge and down to Mercury harbour from the public slip at swanwick.

I am looking forward to the warmer weather and some serious Mullet & Bass fishing.

Cheers,

Mike

I would like to state that I was only joking regarding the MOB practice and using SF Jr as the "victim".

I would of course use one of my ex wives for the exercise and only in hurricane conditions with thick fog and a 10 knot tide race devil
