i was lucky enough to be given this reel and have used it for practice up the field and fished with it on the east coast, just wounderd if anyone else uses one,i didnt realise they are quite expensive, i do find the line can catch and go under the spool sometimes but its only a case of taking the spool of and sorting it out, thanks. |

A free reel is always great. Not used them, but looking at a picture its obvious that the short skirt on the spool may cause the problems with the line getting under it. It could be caused by a lot of reasons but quite often you can modify them to help reduce the problem.
If there is a big gap between the spool and the roller head underneath you could try using a bit of brush draught excluder stuck round the inside of the spool to act as a barrier. It is sometimes caused by loose coils springing backwards off the spool and a ridge of silicon round the spool is rumoured to help with that. |
