Hi Guys ,
Has anyone tried the Lineaffe multipliers very cheap any use? I am considering a miultiplier for beach casting . I am a very novice sea angler so i dont want to spend a fortune on a reel that i cant get on with. Thought I might try one of these then upgrade later. |

Hi Kev a warm welcome to the forum, unfortunately you dont say where you are otherwise a member near you may let you try their setup to see if you can get on witha multiplier before laying any cash out at all.
The norm is for cheap reels to be just that, cheap and dificult to use.
Cheers

Dont take this the wrong way but really it's a false economy to buy cheap multipliers because they are more prone to birds nest and cause you grief than the more expensive models- I think it's why a lot of people give up on multi's and stick with FS reels.
If you don't want to commit to buying something like an ABU6500, Daiwa 7HT or Penn Mag at this stage Rabbi is offering the best advice- especially if you're not sure you'll get on with multipliers- see if you can borrow a decent one- learn how to use the brakes (magnets, brake blocks, oil- combination of all three) and persevere. Concentrate on a smooth casting technique as multi's don't get on too well with jerky techniques. Also practise laying line on the reel as again bad line lay will lead to crack-offs
It sounds like a right palava but I was in the same boat and now wouldnt switch back to FS reels- sad I know but I actually enjoy tinkering with the reels setting them up to run at different speeds. Anyway- Good Luck |

Thanks guys , that's sound advice. I think I will press on with my fs for now. I live near stamford in lincs and hope to be fishing the gravel bank on the north norfolk coast soon . Hunstanton Angling Centre have given me a lot of good advice and i cant wait to get up there |

There are lots of things you can do to make the transition to a multi easier. Readup on them now, how to set them up, whats good (and not so good) about the various models and which ones suit your type of fishing. Also keep an eye out on the beach, see what other anglers think of theirs and the problems they encounter. Armed with a bit more knowledge you will then make a much more sensible purchase when you are able to dip your toe into the multiplier water .... and can reduce costs by maybe choosing a second hand example of one of the better makes.
The other thing which many people forget is that you can start tidying up your casting style (if it needs it) ready for that first go with a multi - they are less forgiving of snatchy casts and so preparing now by smoothing out your power delivery and style will pay dividends later. |
