Joining a club can be a great help and can benefit you by a lot of practical knowledge but on the other hand what are the club fees? what do you get for it? how often do the meet and do you get any internal bickering?
Cheers

Ive just joined a local club, there was a small fee to join and every match i fish there is an entry fee.Theres alot of help at hand and you can get to watch other fish with different tactics.
All i can say is join the club and give it ago,a few mates started fishing club comps last year, and i am amazed at how there success rate has improved over the year.

i signed up to a local club, which from what i can tell differs greatly from one just over the river as far as meeting times, types of competitions, ocial activeties etc.
i've joined this one as i fish both sides of the river but if i were on the north side i would be alone. therefore by being in this club i can not only fish competitions at no charge and get help from more experienced members, but i also get acces to the tynemouth pier on match days, wich is not allowed to other members of the public.
my membership fee is nominal and i think it is a definate benefit to me.
i would sugest you look at how many clubs are in your area, what the benefits are and which suit your availablility etc.
then definately join one. after all you dont have to go to every meeting and you'll make some new friends.....cant be a bad thing |

Just out of interest (it's something I've been interested in too) what did you decide to do?

Is there a list somewhere of Sea Fishing clubs in the UK, with hopefully a contact phone number? |

martin with your health i dont think a fishing club would help you as some matches will be in areas that you will not be able to fish ive never fished with a club its only my thoughts your health as to be taken into account |

I would have thougt that most clubs would be more than happy to help members with any health issues. also i would expect that clubs would choose thier venues to suit al club members, its in thier interests a s a club.
for example, i've never been to a match yet that isnt easy to access even for someone in a wheelchair.
