Hi everyone,
would anyone be interested in a friendly forum fishing league?
maybe once a month match that suits everyone with the venue pulled out of a hat, maybe a point scoring league type thing,
let me know what you all think
cheers shane |

I think this is a great idea but we would have to allocate organizors and keep it friendly as this is what it is all about.
i don't mind being bottom of the first ever league with my expert blanking LOL.
This will have to be discussed on the boat trip suss people out if it is something that could sustain interest for a length of time.
I would love to see a summer league or yearly league put into place or even a monthly meeting at various thames estuary marks
i think we need to find out who would def be interested in forming and trying to commit to it first then have some idea's put forward into the mix to find out where when ect we would need 4 or 5 venues.
Would be nice to hear some friendly idea's on this from other members.

shane......as promised i have made it a sticky. i would welcome and support a league or club for thames members. that said i have enough on my plate already on here so you boys are going to have to pool your resources wthout me lol. i would probably be able to commit to a league match once every two months, but probably not monthly. i will help and support on here if i can. good luck with your venture. |

Sounds like a good idea.
Would this be restricted to Beach/Pier Fishing or would Boats also be used? |

Andy,
your idea sounds fab, that would probably be the best way of doing it,
maybe a biggest fish of that species catorgory is needed, most fish in a session ect....
this could work but would need witnesses i spose, people can then fish when they like without committting to day each month that some may not be able to fish,
R50v2,
we can have different sections, ie boat/pier/beach,
any more views on this people?
cheers shane |

I will be moving my boat from Maldon to Westcliff sometime next week, mooring goes in on 4th.Jan.
I don't mind volunteering my boat for this. She is 30ft long and is a purpose built charter fishing boat... |

Nice Boat you have RV....
Right we need some guidelines
Do we want once or twice a month.
North South or both sides of the River.
Are we going to do a points system or on the day
Could we do like F1 points as some will not be able to make all the trips
How many people would be interested we need to know what sort of numbers we are looking at have on a regular basis.
Just a few thoughts out aloud.
We need one or two people who can go right we are the organisors and then they will be reponsible for applying the (Fair play rules) keep tally of The league points generally give a little more time than normal.
Have we any voluanteers ????????
or anyone like to reccomend a friend (bearing in mind Kopite is out of the equation as he will be sulking all year after losing the Captains hat and trophy LOL) Only joking i know he does well on organisation but is unable due to Moderating this forum and the time span of his work and life.

I would say once a month as I think it will take that long to get everything organised between trips, whether it be Boat, Beach or Pier.
There would be in effect three comps going at once so there should be at least one organiser for each, plus the same again across the river, so that would mean six organisers straight away...
I think it will have to be both sides of the estuary, this would cater for a larger amount of people.
I don't mind trying to organise the boats until somebody better placed can take over. |

so far i rate andy's idea of a league wher u fish when u like and post pics in that way ppl wldnt have to commit to a monthly thing,
maybe do a point system depending on species say 1 for a whiting but 5 for a cod and so on
just an idea, any suggestions for the mix
