Shame about the turn out mate,
I only caught 3 schoolies myself, at least the rain never came untill 4pm when the contest ended.
Tight lines |

Hi ksl, its a real shame more people didnt attend the meet, even more so that it ended up with a deficit. It might have been better with hindsight, not to have had prize money, As it was a charity event i think most peeps would have been happy to just give to the charity, rather than take from it in prize money. I must admit, i was very surprised at the amounts to be won, and wondered at the time how it was going to make a profit for the charity. I really dont know what else to say, ive not known this to happen before, and i know its easy for me to say, but dont give up, i know you must be feeling as low as its possible to go about this, but maybe something can be arranged with the other forums to make up for this.

i fish a few comps myself ,and find if you don't put a decent prize up you don't get many turn up ,thats why we put the money up.if you just do a percentage of money ,very few turn up.with all the feedback a had i was expecting at least 50 anglers, which really is not many when you look at other comps. I will not give up it will be on again next year. |

Maybe the members on here who promised to turn up but didnt could do the honourable thing and donate the cost of the match fee to the charity you were raising money for. |

Hi, when you do it again next year, let us know, maybe we can run a meet on the N/east coast at the same time to give it a better chance. Cheers..Mick |

IF you do it next year (though I wouldnt blame you if you didnt after being let down so badly) do what some of the big Kent opens do and get the money up front and put on your poster prize money subject to number of entries - that sorts out the genuine anglers from the timewasters.
You might also want to think about when you do the match - have a look in the Whats on section of Sea Angler to see when its quiet match wise- during the quiet times anglers who do matches are often twiddling their thumbs- and of course you can advertise the match free of charge in Sea Angler- you just need to Email Alan Yates. |

Such a shame about the turnout Ian. I know how hard you both work to support this charity. I would have loved to have been there but am unable to walk on the beach at the moment after recent surgery on my knee. Keep up the good work |

No excuses from me I hadn't been on here for a while, had a busy week and plain simply forgot.
I can only apologise and will gladly make a donation of the match fee. |
