Hi all,
I won the novice catagory in a comp a couple of weeks ago and won a salt 13'MX, it said on the bag that it is a fixed spool but when i opened it it was the multi version. Are they any good and what does the reducer do? I also won a Shakespear tidewater XD80 fixed spool which looks ok but i will probably sell that as i am a multi man and the money will go towards a 6500 mag i am saving for.
Cheers |

Well the reducer is so that you can use the reel in the down position, fixed at the bottom of the rod. All the extension does is make it easier to reel in again.
With the reel, if the rod is rung for a multiplier, unles the butt ring really is smal, i would think its ok to use a fixed spool reel with it but not power castin incase the line wraps round the butt ring and breaks during a cast and ruins your new rod. |
