The map is a fair guide but almost anywhere along the front can produce if the conditions are right. Recently had codling at the Coastguard Station and Whiting and Dabs near the funfair. At this time of year you are more likely to get action after dark so an evening high tide is usually pretty good. We should have almost perfect conditions coming up this weekend except that it looks like it will be heavy rain and blowing a gale doh! |

Eccles always makes me chuckle ....
you could fish here with small worm baits on the best tides and, of course after dark, and you'll only rarely catch a dab, sole or even a flounder.
The cod/codling this year have not shown as I would have thought (Mark Jakins and I had 14 at Pagham 2 years ago and they come in year classes). I saw a hundred anglers on the last good Sat tide catch two codling at 6-7-0 and 5-12-0.
Work out the fishing-man hours!
Some sizeable whiting in the better conditions (+ pout and dogs)
and always the chance of one of these ....
Groyne 23 ....
can't be fairer than that.
