Why not use a swivel and tie the two either end? |

I use an over hand knot in the leader and a grinner knot in the braided mainline dont use this for sea fishing mind use it in my carp fishing on my spod rod and only had one crack off when the bailarm snapped shut. and have found this to be able to cope with loads of mass spodding.so sure it going to be more than good enough for sea fishing to. |

have used braid for sea fishing great for bite indication and you can also feel everything the fish are doing when you bring them in . best thing to do is use tappered leaders 70lb-18lb about 45ft long and you can use a double blood knot never failed me yet. |

Have to say agree with Crabby here as have had braid on one of my fixed spools - Daiwa Emcast Sport 5500 - and had superb results!
Bite detection second to none and easy retrieve even through weed that would have finished my mono spools have pulled six and half pound Bass over twenty five foot wall too!!! As stupidly had no drop net lol lol
Recently fished a very tidal water -the Bristol channel - it held firm whereas my mono was constantly loosing touch with the bottom with more weight on too!!!!!!!
So definite an advocate of braid and have used on my boat rod for ever lol |

I take it the leader is the mono. If you use a swivel, the leader is not wrapped round the spool, so defeats the object of having the leader. (The swivel can't go through the rings easily when casting so it will leave braid between the spool and the leader line).
If you need to tie the two together go for Magictoys suggestion with an overhand in the leader and a grinner in the braid, OR a double grinner.
I personnaly use a double grinner, but would probable favour Magictoys over my set up as other people on this site have also indicated the overhand + grinner. |

Is a top knot dont use braid in sea fishing tho but have plenty of experience of it from carp fishing. Never had any problems with this knot on my spod rod and thats launching out spods which weigh up to 8 ounces often up to 50 in as quick as time as possible.
If i ever used braid in sea fishing i would allways add a mono leader rather than fishing braid straight frew or using a braided leader as the mono leader is more fish friendly, cheeper and finger friendly when casting and handlining fish up a boat or pier. |
