Went to a local bass mark last night but weed made fishing impossible. Most of my local beaches have been in a bad state all year so Im hoping they will start fishing soon. Came across this washed up

Its a shame as I have spent quite a while looking for them this year and this is the first one I have seen. It is quite common here to find them dead after a bit of a storm.
Managed to get a few hours in North Clare this morning, had a few mackerel fairly quickly ( they have been quite unpredictable this season).
I had a missed run on the first cast, just a few small pulls and then dropped. The second cast was a lot more positive with an agressive bite, after a bit of a struggle to pull him out of the kelp I managed to land this

He weighed in at 9lb 4oz and after a few photos he was released. I had one other dropped run before it was time for me to go.
Took this photo of my mate Joe at Fanore last week. The fishing was desperate but the sunset was great

Thanks for the report and the pics, well done mate. Shame about the dead fish washed up on the beach.
Cheers
