Every year i hear the same, flounder everywhere, easy to catch...but the chap next to me gets them like dinner plates, mine are more like coasters.
I know the basics, beads, smaller hooks, sequins etc, small rag / harbour rag for baits etc, but are there any general or venue specific tips out there.
Id generally fish Amroth area, Tenby South Beach, Saundersfoot, Pendine & West facing beaches (Newgale, Broad Haven, Whitesands, WALES)
Any help is welcome. |

I used to live in your area, used to fish somewhere north of pompy, on mudflats, not sure exactly where, but kinda off to the left of A3 heading south. Used to get some qulaity fish there at 20 yards on small rag.
The beaches here are a lot more exposed, there are some great spots similar to what you have down there, Lougher, Llansteffan, and parts of Tawe estury, but the beaches are alot cleaner, open, and less gullies etc.
One day i'll crack it im sure! |

i sent you a pm jim kayak. did that go unnoticed ?
if you're catching ones that are tiny then put a bigger hook on!!!! i've caught them on 1/0s and 2/0s... sure i could even catch a one on a 3/0!! no point sticking on 4s and 6s etc becuase the big ones will probably deep hook themselves and you'll only be able to stick a few measly worms on. and the bigger fish want a bigger bait.
people forget that they are predatory...i've had one on sandeel so they dont just go for slow wriggly worms.
catching them i estuaries is not my kinda of thing...i prefer targeting them from beaches.
think about the length of your snoods etc... if you can't get one with the advice thats out there then...god help you!! haha |
