hello, anyone got an idea for a cheap shelter to keep out the rain? I have seen bivvies and shelters in argos £30 - £35 but also a very cheap camping tent £12.99, it wont get used very often and all are a similar size, has anyone used anything like it, Cheers Fozz big grin big grin big grin

Netto and other large stores seem to do them from time to time at a far cheaper price than argos.

best to go with a shelter than a tent. if you look at the pictures on your links the shelter has flaps on the outside. fill these with wet sand/rocks and it keeps it sturdy, when your finished and packing up just shake it and its clean. with the tent you'd have to put the sand inside making it messy to tidy and pack up

what ever u get dont get the carp shelter from argos! i got one and the poles dont fit and i ended up ripping it trying to make them fit. not a good idea as it took my over 30mins to get it up in 0 wind i dread to think how long in a 15mph wind let alone a 30.

i got a cheap beach shelter from argos for £10 instead lasted over 30 trips and its still in great condition.
and its got those pockets to put sand/stones in to keep it sturdy

Wouldn't it be better to try to scrape another tenner together and get a Ron Thompson shelter ?.
At least then you've got something that will stand up against the bad weather and will last you a few season's.

i bought the carp shelter from argos it was the worst thing ever, took so long to build it was a complete waste of money the poles didnt fit properly so now i just go without i normally use a cave on the beach or get settled behind a rock which can work just as good. But i might just buy a really cheap one off ebay or something they are worth it if you get one that is quick to build and easy to maintain.

ive got a cheap beach shelter that i bought from the £ shop for a fiver but it doesnt have any flaps/pockets to put sand in so i just put a big rock or tackle box/bag in each corner to hold it down.
its pretty quick to put up with just 3 poles to put in.
only ever used it in slight wind and rain though so dont know how it will work in extreme weather.

well i bought the carp shelter from argos and cant fault it,would not go to the beach without it now,100 % water proof,ok might take a little longer to put up,but it fits all my kit in and room to sleep, the sides slope out so easy to secure with rocks or shingle, and light to carry un like the ron thompson which is about 5ft in height, the carp shelter will fit on top of your tackle box a treat, which is another good point,un like the ron thompson which is like another 4 rods, i know which i would sooner carry, and to be honist i would advise anyone to put the shelter up at home first, not try for the first time on the beach, always know your product big grin .

On the Argos website along with the Carp shelter is a fishing umberella priced @ £19.99, for compactness and ease of transporting don't think you could beat this ,tied down with guy ropes a perfect shelter put up in seconds.
