what material would you use for a breadfly targeting mullet.ive been advice to use bleached deers hair, also whilst on the fly building topic would deer hair be good for crab patterns. just a thought for nxt year.imagine smut on the fly at sandy point,if they can bump into bassfly there must be a chance.ideas sinking line with a crab pattern hard on the bottom slow retrive ,result 3-4lb hound .iam bored ,tightlines mick

From what I've read on this subject, white foam is often used. But to fish effectively you need to groundbait with mashed bread too. I can't speak from experience however. My only attempt at the mullet, which always seem more numerous than bass, has been with a small black fly, to no avail. -Nigel

A bit of white rabbit skin tied zonker style might be worth a try. It could be good as a slow sinker.

Hi Mick. Rovers in Fareham sell artificial bread for carp fishing, in small packets. It is very realistic and works fine on Mullet, especially if you have 'fed' the water. A small bait holder hook keeps the bread in place, or you can use super glue to stop it moving on the hook.
