well thats 10 months now i have been without my boat due to trying to refurb her myself at the cost so far of over £1000 started her up and melted the new impellor and the water pump lol so decided to give to workshop and he says my crank seal is leaking as well so i went down to look and yes it was so we are now trying to source another inboard engine as it will be cheaper than stripping mine down an rebuilding it. but the good news is whilst all this has been going on i persuaded the wife to let me rent a birth in sovereign harbour eastbourne £2100 per year (ouch)..but no more waiting for simpsons to get off their backsides and launch..so...... anyone out there know of a 140-120hp mercruiser going at a good price???? i hope to be out for the cod season and also a alpha 1 sterndrive might be useful |

similar thing has just happened to a guy i know, hes bought a boat apparently allr eady for the sea. unfortunatly when he gave it a good insoection found a crack in the hell upon further inspection to repair it propper hes had to take the floor up to find the beems have rotted so now hes basicaly making the boat from scratch and the guy who sold him him is not saying a word about it.
but the 3 month warrenty thing sounds like something bill higham gives.
dont trust him as far as you can throw him. he sold me a dodgy fuel pump that was apparently brand new at the cost of £75 these things dont come cheep and are crucial out at sea |

what a day i had picking her up
SATURDAY.....
got to the boat in littlehampton at 8am, left harbour by 0930,poodled along got as far as shoreham and all electrics burnt out couldnt fix it so called the lifeboat out,got towed back to littlehampton as it was my harbour of departure, paid a local mechanic (diamond geezer he was) £100 he sorted out all the wiring took him till 5pm which by then the tide was out and we couldnt leave the harbour, so 9pm at night made our way all the way to brighton marina to put some fuel in, got as far as newhaven and picked up a godamn fishing net so call number 2 to the good old life boat by this time it was gone midnight, got towed into newhaven where my prop was cleared and was good to go UNTIL when i turned the key the starter motor decided to snap one of its bolt holes,so called for a lift to eastbourne by car,
SUNDAY....
bought new starter for £150 fitted it started her and poodled to sovereign harbour where she now waits for some more good fishing weather
anyone want a good mechanic stay clear of NS marine in littlehampton as he has no friggin idea what he is doing |
