Just a post to pass the time as things are so quiet on the Thames at the mo....
Where's your most favourite spot to fish on the Thames
Mine would have to be Tilbury Fort during the winter run of codling. |

Hi Macer, favourite spot to fish on the Thames ????............for me it is the pier at Southend, not because of the fantastic catch rate , which it ain't renound for but because of the many fond memories over the years that have formed, I once had a season ticket years ago( 24 hr pass )and spent either Friday or Saturday night every week according to my shift pattern on there, between myself and two mates caught one night at least a couple of hundred codling!!!!!!!!!!!!!..............trouble was they all were at least 4 inches long, so had to go back.
best regards Joli |

Hi Joli thats quite a good point.........
I don't recall seeing any catch reports for the last codling Winter run from Southend? And yet we know the Codling are there as many of us have caught them from Boats just off of the pier?
Has anyone else had codling (not the battered kind) from Southend pier in the last few Codling runs? |

My vote goes to Southend Pier too - mainly as that's pretty much where I grew up! |

My favourite spot on the thames is east tilbury (coal house fort) we have had some decent bass this year. Also curry points not too bad either but the walk is a bit too long from where you park your car. W e have had some fair size flatties there. |

Hiya Macer,
Took a trip this morning to the Pier and would wish to retract my previous posting........."favourite spot on the Thames"........... it used to be !!!!!!!! ,it is now supervised by a MR Bean/Adolf clone, he can't be wrong, he's always right even when he doesn't know what he's on about, he sneaks around hiding behind objects spying on all and sundry and is obsessed with health & safety rules.................at his age he ought to know better
On the pier its now so antiseptic that it is an ordeal fishing there
JOLI
P.S Saw a guy catch a really nice bass down the stem 4-5 lb on Mackeral feathers ..............................still no Mackeral on the pier!!!!!! |
