Hi peeps, We had arranged a trip out to spurn with Royboy, and at the last minute, Squidhead came along too.
HW was around 09.30am so we set off to meet them at 04.15 arriving in patrington just before 6 Royboy was waiting for us there so we set off straight away for his favourite spot on the point.
As soon as we stopped it was gear out and get ready, the tide was over 100yds out, but Roy has a marker and when the sea reaches it he knows that by the time hes set up there will be wet stuff to chuck into. The tide comes in and out quickly there as its fairly flat ground, Roy brought the bait he had dug on the friday so it was all systems go, (thanks for the lug roy your a gent) Roy had brought Martin with him, and he had never fished before, when he told us this i said well your probably going to catch the most. (I wish i had kept my big gob shut) The first fish fell to, yes you guessed it, martin. Which was a flattie around the size of his hand, then he caught another, this was getting dickirudolous now, the rest of us hadnt had a sniff. Then it was squidheads turn to pull a flattie in, so at least he didnt blank. Well lo and behold, martin pulls in another flattie, and were thinking this might be the last time he comes. big grin big grin at this point it got very quiet, only 4 fish between us, myself conner and roy had nothing to show. By now the tide was well on its way out, and conner decided to check his line and bait up again when the jammy little so n so pulled in 2 very respectable flatties at the same time on a pennel, the one that took the main hook was a plaice of around the 1lb mark, the other was just slightly smaller, so he had caught the 2 biggest fish at the last push. Royboy and myself blanked, but it was a very nice mornings fishing with really good company. Royboy and Co, are a pleasure to go fishing with, and we are going to get down there again just as soon as were invited. big grin i should mention that the mark is a very easy one, and theres no walking as such, plus you have the choice of fishing the river side, or the sea side of the point with only 50yds of walking between. Thanks to Royboy for inviting us, and for the worms he dug for the occasion. hope to do it again soon. Cheers ...mick

Having joined Manic, connor, roy and friend at spurn on sunday morning. Was surprised how high the tide got when it came in, highest ive seen it there, just shame fish did'nt show up as well. To see connor's face and reaction when catching 2 flatties at same time ,was a picture.
Had hoped to go again this week, but awoke this morning with stiff knees (from arthritus) after jumping about on rocks, so may have to give it a miss for a while. As was planning to try on beach side of spurn point
