You didn't miss too much in the way of action! It was Me, Bassfly and Crapcaster (nice to meet you chaps!) on duty this morning.

Between us we managed one little Bass all morning at three different marks. I caught on the third or fourth cast of the day, but unfortunately that didn't mark the start of great things! Obviously, from where Bassfly and Crapcaster were stood, my catch might have looked a bit small, but I can tell you, you would have got a reasonable fishfinger out of him!!! big hug To be honest, he was about an inch from being back-cast because I thought it was a little clump of weed on the fly!

There were some big and mean-looking mullet holding out in the shelter by the point, but there really wasn't anything about today. Blowing a hoolie pretty much non-stop didn't help, but it was well worth a go.

I bought some Tunnock's Caramel wafers to take along, but I accidentally ate them all by Friday afternoon. As luck would have it, Crapcaster brought some bargain-priced Mars bars - have you ever seen a Mars bar with a veruka? Bassfly spotted the sell-by date; 1974 I think he said it was.

Anyway, me and Simon packed up about 12.30-ish and last saw Colin heading out to sea for one last throw.

Thanks for the pointers Simon and Colin, the company was good even if the fish were absent - here's to the next one...

Thanks for the report Daft Wader. I think bassfly is too depressed to put finger to key board after this morning.
Likewise, it was nice to make your acuaintance and despite the lack of fish, the company more than made up for it. I don't think that we can really blame the wind for the lack of activity, it's just that the fish were not there. Like the summer, the Bass seem to have disappeared for the last two weeks. I'm sure they will return for the next get together, where ever that may be( any advances on Cuba?).
You make me feel guilty about the Mars bars with the 1974 sell by date, so next time I promise they will be from this side of the millenium.

I have decided to dust off the keyboard and punch a few lines in.
I DONT DO BLANKS!!!!!!
Good day out though, and i still have the Jalfrezi/Stella combo smell impregnated in my waders. This is what put the fish out for sure.
Highlight of the day for me was a large smoothhound cruising a foot past my bandy legs in a shallow sandy bay.Never seen a big fish so close.
Nice to meet up chaps.Better luck next time.
It was dead calm last night on Hayling, hindsights a wonderful thing...should have fished the evening tide.
Cheers
Simon

Note to Bassfly + Crapcaster; I finally did it! The new website is up and running!!!!

Back to the important stuff...I'm planning a reccie very soon, too see if it is worth organising a get together over this way. We might well be limited on choice, but if it's productive enough and early enough we could always scoot over to south Hayling later in the day if there isn't much about?

Sounds like a grand idea Daft Wader. Plenty of likely spots to choose from over your way, Church Norton and Pagham etc. I'll go and look the mars bars out now (must remember, no older than 2001).
Maybe you could post your suggestion again as 'Get Together 3'.
Lets hope for a hot, sunny day with the gentlest of breezes and more Bass than you could shake a stick at big grin
