Just back from a week's holiday in Elmer Sands. Fished the rock groyne at the Climping end of the beach on 23/6 - only a single mackie and a schoolie to show for my efforts (spinning and feathering). Fished Shoreham harbour and western arm on 25/6 with my brother Adi and mate Jammy - they had 7 bass from 8 oz to a pound & a half on floatfished double prawn near the coastwatch station (I missed every bite I had), then we went onto the western harbour arm. Plenty of fish for us all - I had a 2lb golden grey mullet on legered maddies (plus a black bream, schoolie, mini plaice and my first ever tub gurnard) plus a mackie on floatfished sandeel. Adi also had a 2lb golden grey, 3 mackie on redgills plus several flatties. Jammy had 3 bream, a mackie, a gurnard, another bass and a few plaice - brilliant day all round! I then fished behind the rocks at Elmer on a rising tide on 27/6 with freshly dug lug. I fished 2 rock piles and an outfall pipe for 18 bass on legered lug (they all went back) plus one on a dexter wedge on the rock groyne. Best result of the day was the 5lb stingray I picked up on lug. With this hot settled weather there will be plenty more around at Elmer and Climping - sat here in sweltering Carshalton 50 miles from the coast I really wish I was still there! Kev

Great report,
Glad to see some fish being caught along the south coast.

It's easy to dig lug at Elmer - there are plenty about 2 hours either side of low. Mind, you'll have to watch out for the raft race there today!
