Hey mate I don't define a reel by price, I define it by what I want it to do - line capacity, smoothness, retrieve rate, etc. Then find the reel which most closely fits what I have defined and is a sensible price. Oh BTW the result for me has been Diawa's and I am very pleased so far after 18 months regular usage. |

Vision Koma, £69 with spare spool. Been swff'ng for 3 years with mine, still in perfect nick (mind you I wash and grease mine after every trip). You can then stick the rest of the poonds in yer pocket. |

you could go for a greys grxi reel to match the rod, you might be able to get a package deal if you look around on the net. they come with a case and 3 spare spools, i used to use for salt water stuff and it never let me down. |

I'm no expert, but I use Battenkills (including a mid-arbour on my 5wt) and I wouldn't swap'em. Easy maintenance and built to take the salt, so I whole-heartedly second the venerable Mr Bassfly's comment. |

If I wasn't such a canny (tight) Scotsman then a Lansom Guru would be screwed to my rod right now. |

Paste this into eBay: ORVIS BATTENKILL LARGE ARBOR V FLY FISH REEL
A nice Battenkill at a nice price maybe? There a couple more on there as well. The only problem, I suppose, is that you may not be covered by warranty.
Just a thought.... |
