Just back from a week in Alicante. Managed to fit in a few morning sessions while the better half lay snoring. Fished an area where a small river enters the sea. Locals told me I might catch anything from Barracuda to Dorada but guess what came along and munched my Deceiver? Good old Senor Bass. Nice plump fish and strong fighters. My favoured sparse DNA Clouser did the trick first morning but on my second visit the water was a bit coloured making the fly almost invisible. Changed to a chart/white Deceiver which I let swing across the current before starting my retreive. The fish hit each time just as I started to pull. The Spanish bait fishers were suprised that a fly could be so effective. They called it 'Eeengleesh feeeshing' (English fishing).
