hi there i am thinking of fishing my first match soon. its on a local beach to me fished it a far bit. does antone have any good advice for match fishing. [ you dont have to tell me your top secret tactics if you dont wont] any advice would be good thanks needafish. |

fish as many hooks as you are allowed, fish big smelly baits, but other than that fish as you normally would. the chances are until you have more experience you wont even frame but each match gives you a better insight |

Have more than one rig... ready weighted and baited so you can swap tackle quickly and get it back into the water quick.... no bait in the water = no fish
also check bait regularly... no good waiting for a bite and there's only a bare hook in the water

If the rules allow it, I always have two rods set up. If it is weedy you can cast the other rod out and then deal with the first. Same thing if you get snagged and lose your rig. Always try and find out how the beach is fishing and remember you might not necessarily be fishing the match at the perfect time.
