Hello
I'm a newby.
Wanted to try this sea flyfishing for some time - have been a freshwater fly fisher for many years.
I've been reading the posts and they've all been really helpful so almost ready to try it out but don't know where to go. I live near Winchester and was hoping to try for some mackerel on the fly off a beach somewhere.
Please could anyone suggest some good places for an absolute beginner?
Thanks! |

Hi,
You could wander along the coast in most places and probably come across some Mackerel.Curious to know why you mention just Mackerel although they do go well on the fly.
Look out for terns/gulls bombing down into the sea....fish.
Dont forget the Mullet.
Cheers

Thanks Simon
Well yes I am interested in other species - just don't know enough yet - hopefully will get more than mackerel. Just thought this might be more of a sure bet for a beginner!
Any help on where, when and what type of flies and approaches would be much appreciated.
Thanks for replying |
